“I needed to fight for my family. Now I fight for you.”
Laura Fine is a proven fighter for the 9th District. As a State Senator, she has never been afraid to take on the powerful special interests and billionaires on behalf of working families.

Laura Fine’s approach to leadership is guided by the core values that have shaped her life. As a Jewish woman, a mother, and a former union member, she was raised with the values of Tikkun Olam—the responsibility to repair a broken world. She carries with her the steadfast belief that we are judged not by our words, but by how we treat the most vulnerable among us. This philosophy has defined her career, from her time as a journalist and a teacher at Northeastern Illinois University to her tenure in the Illinois General Assembly.

Sixteen years ago, Laura’s husband lost his arm in a devastating car accident that nearly took his life. While he was in the hospital fighting for his life, his insurance company canceled their coverage. But Laura fought back. She refused to quit until the company paid what they owed.
Now she’s one of the most effective members of the IL Senate and a leading advocate holding insurance companies and corporations accountable.
She has passed over 200 bills into law. She has a reputation as a workhorse who knows how to build the coalitions necessary to deliver tangible progress on healthcare, environmental protection, and civil rights. As a member of the State Central Committee, Laura is ready to bring this same battle-tested leadership to the Democratic Party.
Laura Fine will be the fighter we need on day one and she will help Illinois Democrats protect our personal and civil rights against attacks from Trump and MAGA.
